Thirty-year telecom veteran joins the fiber construction firm after leading multi-state FTTH deployment at Zito Media
SEVEN VALLEYS, PA, UNITED STATES, August 25, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ — Patriot Broadband Technologies has named Rick Boone director of OSP operations. Boone joins the fiber and broadband construction company after five years at Zito Media, where he was director of technical operations for the Central Division and led fiber deployment and network operations across five states.
Boone has worked in telecommunications for more than 30 years. At Zito Media he directed FTTH builds from construction through customer install, managed multimillion dollar capital projects, and coordinated permitting and right-of-way approvals with municipalities, utilities, and state agencies. Before that he spent nine years at Suddenlink Communications as an operations manager responsible for outside plant construction, field operations, and network maintenance.
“Rick has spent three decades doing the work our customers actually depend on, from OSP construction through full FTTH deployment across multiple states,” said Mike Zeller, president of Patriot Broadband Technologies. “He knows what it takes to keep a build moving when the permits, the utilities, and the weather all disagree with the schedule.”
At Patriot, Boone runs outside plant operations across the company’s active builds. He owns how OSP work gets executed from planning through closeout: crew and subcontractor performance, schedule and production discipline, permitting and right-of-way follow-through, and the quality and documentation standards a build has to meet before it is turned over. He allocates crews and equipment across concurrent projects and is the escalation point when work runs into trouble in the field.
His earlier career includes technical operations roles at Northland Communications and TCI Cablevision, and a stint as technical operations manager and interim general manager at Comcast Cable, where he ran operations for a system serving roughly 21,000 subscribers and $12 million in annual revenue. He also owned and operated RBoone Contract Services, a residential and light commercial construction company. Boone holds a bachelor’s degree in communications.
“I’ve spent thirty years around outside plant work and the fundamentals don’t change,” Boone said. “Plan it right, keep the crews and the permits moving, and finish what you start. Patriot already works that way, so I’m excited to keep that going.”
“Our customers are asking us to build more fiber, faster, and in more places,” Zeller said. “Rick’s job is to make sure we can say yes to that and still deliver on time and on budget.”
