Sunstar Insurance Group, LLC (“Sunstar”), one of the nation’s top 30 independent insurance brokers, today announced it has hired Tod Ashby as Chief Information Officer, where he will lead the company’s technology strategy, enterprise infrastructure and systems modernization as Sunstar continues to build the scalable platform needed to support its growth. In this role, he will oversee enterprise architecture, cloud and cybersecurity strategy, data and reporting infrastructure and the technology integration of newly acquired agencies, working closely with Sunstar’s executive team to advance Sunstar’s Corporate Infrastructure priorities.
Ashby brings four decades of technology leadership experience across the insurance industry, with a focus on enterprise transformation, M&A due diligence and integration, cloud and infrastructure modernization and cybersecurity governance. He has held senior technology roles at AssuredPartners, Prime Risk Partners, HUB International and Van Gilder Insurance Corporation, where he led enterprise infrastructure, compliance and integration programs for organizations scaling to more than $2 billion in revenue. His background as a systems leader, governance architect and CIO across multiple private equity-backed platforms positions him to make an immediate impact.
“Corporate Infrastructure is one of the core pillars of our strategy, and bringing Tod on board reflects our commitment to building the systems, oversight and scalability needed to support Sunstar’s continued expansion,” said Adam Meyerowitz, Chief Executive Officer of Sunstar. “I’ve seen firsthand the discipline and clarity he brings to complex technology environments. As we continue to acquire and integrate agencies across our footprint, having a leader of Tod’s caliber dedicated to our technology roadmap is a significant advantage.”
“Tod’s experience building enterprise infrastructure and guiding technology integration through periods of rapid growth makes him exactly the leader we need at this stage of Sunstar’s evolution,” added Greg Lottes, President of Sunstar. “His track record and leadership will bring real consistency to our platform as we continue to expand.”
That integration work is already underway across Sunstar’s growing roster of agencies, giving Ashby an immediate mandate to apply the systems and governance discipline he built over four decades in the industry.
“Sunstar has built a platform with real momentum and a culture that puts people first, and I’m excited to help shape the technology foundation that supports its next stage of growth,” said Ashby. “I’m looking forward to working alongside the leadership team and the broader organization to build the infrastructure and oversight that will serve Sunstar and its clients for years to come.”
Ashby’s appointment comes as Sunstar continues to expand its geographic footprint and deepen its capabilities. Backed by Reverence Capital Partners, Sunstar operates across nine states, employs more than 900 people, and places over $2 billion in premiums annually.
Ashby joined Sunstar effective August 24, 2026.
