Rhythm Express®, a leader in remote patient monitoring and digital health solutions, today announced the launch of RX-1 Sleep™, an innovative medical device designed to aid healthcare professionals in evaluating sleep-related breathing disorders in adults suspected of sleep apnea. Building on the company’s RX-1 mini cardiac monitoring system, the FDA-cleared RX-1 Sleep system brings sleep assessment capabilities together in a connected platform.

Rhythm Express RX-1 Sleep enables concurrent monitoring of sleep-related breathing and cardiac rhythm using the compact RX-1 mini wearable monitor and an integrated pulse oximetry sensor.
RX-1 Sleep, when used with the RX-1 mini system, addresses an important clinical challenge: atrial fibrillation and obstructive sleep apnea frequently coexist, yet their evaluation has traditionally followed separate clinical pathways. By coordinating these assessments, Rhythm Express aims to simplify and streamline clinic workflows and help clinicians access a more connected picture of patients’ cardiac and sleep health while improving the patient experience.
“Clinicians increasingly recognize obstructive sleep apnea as a key modifiable risk factor in managing atrial fibrillation burden,” said Dr. Marina Brockway, founder and CTO of Rhythm Express. “The RX-1 Sleep system, leveraging RX-1 mini, offers a first-of-its-kind opportunity for concurrently monitoring cardiac rhythm and sleep-disordered breathing during a home sleep test.”
The prescription-use RX-1 Sleep software analyzes data from RX-1 mini and a compatible pulse oximeter to aid in assessing sleep-disordered breathing (SDB), generating measurements including apnea-hypopnea index, sleep/wake status, respiratory effort and body position. When cardiac and sleep evaluations are both prescribed, the RX-1 mini and RX-1 Sleep system can aid in assessing cardiac arrhythmias, including atrial fibrillation burden, for up to 30 days and SDB for up to 3 days.
“When we evaluate patients with atrial fibrillation, testing for sleep apnea is common to address underlying contributing risk factors in addition to discussing treatment options,” said Mark Abrams, MD, cardiac electrophysiologist for CareMount Medical and Optum. “Combining a sleep evaluation alongside cardiac rhythm monitoring allows for expedited diagnosis, evaluation and management in a more holistic way to optimize patient care.”
Peer-Reviewed Evidence
The launch is supported by newly published research comparing RX-1 Sleep with other home sleep apnea testing technologies. The peer-reviewed article authored and funded by Rhythm Express, “A Comparative Review of Performance and Concurrent Cardiac Rhythm Assessment Across Home Sleep Apnea Testing Devices,” highlights RX-1 Sleep’s strong performance and its distinctive ability to combine sleep-disordered breathing and cardiac rhythm assessment from the RX-1 mini technology. The review examined a broad range of key factors for clinicians and patients, including accuracy, multi-night testing capabilities, cardiac rhythm assessment and patient convenience.
RX-1 Sleep’s strong performance across these measures builds on a multicenter validation involving 476 polysomnography assessments. It provides additional evidence supporting RX-1 Sleep’s ability to bring sleep together into a connected evaluation with cardiac monitoring data from RX-1 mini.
Designed for Patient Use and Clinical Efficiency
For patients, RX-1 Sleep offers a compact, at-home monitoring approach which may reduce the need for separate testing arrangements when cardiac monitoring from RX-1 mini and sleep evaluations from RX-1 Sleep are both prescribed. For clinicians and healthcare organizations, the platform streamlines monitoring and data review, while providing detailed information to aid in assessment. Rhythm Express’ ECG technology enhances P-wave visibility, helping clinicians distinguish atrial activity and cardiac rhythms.
The introduction of RX-1 Sleep comes amid sustained growth for Rhythm Express. In 2026, the company was named to Inc. Magazine’s list of America’s fastest-growing private companies for the fourth consecutive year, reflecting continued adoption of its remote monitoring technologies and services.
