PALM DESERT, CA, UNITED STATES, October 28, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ — When an older loved one is injured or suddenly declines, families may be left asking a difficult question: Could someone have noticed sooner? That question is at the heart of the newly launched National Elder Abuse Foundation, created to bring greater attention to elder abuse and neglect.
Founded by Steven C. Peck, Esq., and Adam J. Peck, Esq., of the Peck Law Group, the Foundation draws on more than 60 years of combined legal experience representing older and dependent adults and their families.
Through their work, the attorneys have seen families struggle to understand how someone they love was hurt. When dementia or serious illness makes it difficult for an older adult to explain what happened, those unanswered questions can be especially painful.
“Elder abuse grows in silence,” Steven Peck has said. “Awareness is one of the most powerful forms of prevention.”
A 2025 federal review of nursing-home assessments found that facilities failed to record 43% of falls involving major injury and hospitalization among Medicare-enrolled residents.
An unexpected injury or decline is not, by itself, evidence of abuse. It is a reason to ask staff what happened, when they first noticed a change and how they responded. Giving people more confidence to raise those questions is central to the Foundation’s mission.
NationalElderAbuseFoundation.org is now live, with additional material planned.
