First clinical results show Panther’s microarray patch was well tolerated across 8 applications over 4 weeks, with an efficacy study planned for late 2026.
NEW YORK, NY, UNITED STATES, October 14, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ — Panther Life Sciences, a skin-powered delivery platform for health, wellness and therapeutics, today announced positive results from a clinical skin tolerability study of its SmartPatch™, a dissolvable microarray patch with microscopic projections designed to deliver active ingredients into the skin. The study evaluated skin-smoothing applications with repeated use on the lateral canthal lines, commonly referred to as “crow’s feet.”
Key Study Highlights:
SmartPatch™ demonstrated favorable skin tolerability following repeated applications to the crow’s feet area over four weeks, with irritation profiles comparable to adhesive-only control patches.
No adverse events or unexpected skin reactions were reported.
Skin-barrier integrity was maintained under the study conditions, with no statistically significant differences between SmartPatch™ and control sites in transepidermal water loss (TEWL), a standard measure of how much water escapes through the skin.
Exploratory imaging also identified early signals of improvement via VISIA®-CR, a standardized facial imaging system used in dermatology research to photograph and measure changes in the skin. The study was not designed to assess efficacy; a dedicated 40-subject efficacy trial is scheduled for later this year.
The independent study enrolled 16 healthy adults, 13 of whom completed eight applications over four weeks followed by a one-week post-treatment follow-up. SmartPatch™ was applied under repeated occlusion to the crow’s feet area, with tolerability assessed by board-certified dermatologists using a standardized irritation scale and skin-barrier integrity evaluated using TEWL. The study protocol was reviewed and approved by the Clarus Institutional Review Board.
The results represent an early clinical proof-of-concept milestone for SmartPatch™ and support Panther’s progression into a dedicated efficacy study. Skin smoothing is the first application of SmartPatch™, which is designed for self-application. Panther is developing the platform for future uses across health, wellness and therapeutics.
“Repeated application to the periorbital area provides useful information on local skin response in the intended area of use,” said Saeid Amini Nik, MD, PhD, Principal Investigator at SGS North America. “The lack of clinically meaningful irritation or adverse events identified under the study conditions, together with the observed skin-barrier findings, supports continued clinical evaluation of SmartPatch™.”
“This study is an important step in clinically validating SmartPatch™ for repeated use on the skin,” said Marcus “Mounir” Hanana, CEO of Panther Life Sciences. “Our focus is to establish safety and efficacy first in skin health, while building the clinical evidence base for a broader platform of possible treatments. With this tolerability milestone completed, we can now move into the next stage of clinical evaluation.”
Following completion of the efficacy study expected in early 2027, Panther Life Sciences plans to prepare a final clinical study report and submit the findings for publication in peer-reviewed scientific journals.
